Preparing files for solvent printing

Colors

  • CMYK color space 8 bits/channel (using RGB model or additional colors from PANTONE palette may result in inconsistency of printout colors);
  • without an embedded color profile;
  • secondary (spot or solid) colors converted to CMYK;
  • In large black backgrounds, the components of the black color should include: C-40%, M-40%, Y-40%, K-100%;
  • we do not apply overprints;
  • in cases where very accurate color reproduction is important, we recommend providing a test print or color sample;

If there are RGB or PANTONE colors in the project, we automatically convert them to CMYK.

Output formats for print files:

  • TIFF flattened, no layers, alpha channels or tracks, no compression.
  • Corel JPG – highest quality, subformat optional (4:4:4).
  • JPG Illustrator, Photoshop – high quality, standard compression.
  • PDF version Acrobat 4 (pdf 1,3), single page files only, curved text, no embedded color profiles. To guarantee correct printing, all bitmaps, effects, lenses and tonal transitions should be flattened to the background, texts should be curved.
  • CDR up to Corel X5 version, EPS or AI up to CS6 version, without effects and lenses, texts curved, all tonal transitions and bitmaps flattened to background, (in these formats we accept only files intended for contour cutting, milling, 3D lettering, files intended for laser cutting).
  • All formats without printing marks or register marks.
  • 1:1 scale files.

Resolution

The resolution of the files depends primarily on the size of the prints. It should not exceed 300 ppi for very small prints (e.g. A4) and 70-30 ppi for prints over 10m. For easy adjustment of resolution to print dimensions we present below a table of resolutions.

Preparing files for UV printing

UV technology enables high-quality printing directly on materials such as:

  • PVC,
  • dibond,
  • cardboard, paperboard,
  • furniture boards, doors, plywood,
  • glass, mirror,
  • plexiglass and others.

The printing area is 2500 x 3000 mm, the maximum material thickness is 100 mm.

Colors

  • CMYK color space 8 bits/channel;
  • without an embedded color profile;
  • econdary (spot or solid) colors converted to CMYK;
  • in large black backgrounds, the components of the black color should include C-40%, M-40%, Y-40%, K-100%;
  • we do not apply overprints;
  • in cases where very accurate color reproduction is important, we recommend providing a test print or color sample;

If there are RGB or PANTONE colors in the project, we automatically convert them to CMYK.

Output formats for print files:

  • TIFF flattened (in case of selective printing, an alpha channel added which will be the image printed with cover white). When printing in white color, please attach a visualization, which will allow us to control the correctness of the prepared files.
  • JPG acceptable, but due to high quality loss we advise against using this format.
  • PDF version Acrobat 4 (pdf 1,3), single page files only, curved text, no embedded color profiles. To guarantee correct printing, all bitmaps, effects, lenses and tonal transitions should be flattened to the background, texts should be curved.
  • CDR up to Corel X5 version, EPS or AI up to CS6 version (in these formats we accept only files intended for contour cutting, milling, 3D lettering, file intended for laser cutting).
  • All formats without register marks.
  • 1:1 scale files.

Resolution

The resolution of the files depends primarily on the size of the prints. It should not exceed 300 ppi for very small prints and 150 ppi for large prints.

Selective printing

Recommended format – two-page PDF (first page is CMYK graphic, second page is white color mask) or TIF with alpha channel. For files dedicated to white color printing (material is e.g. black or transparent) we do not include a white background in the design (background should remain transparent).
On clear materials we can use three layers of printing e.g. CMYK – WHITE – CMYK, as a result the print will be visible from both sides. Similarly, we prepare files which are to be cut to a given shape after printing. The shape is to be saved on a separate layer or page necessarily in a vector version.

Bleed

Each printout intended for UV printing should contain 5 mm bleed per page, i.e. a 2000 x 1000 mm printout should be 2010 x 1010 mm.

Bleed and contour cutting

Bleed – elements that extend beyond the edge of the use, intended to be cut.

We do not use bleeds on banners and mesh netting.
Backlight (vinyl for backlighting) we use a 75 mm bleed per side, so when using 2000 x 1000 mm graphics should be 2150 x 1150 mm.
Films intended for application on PLX, PVC, dibond, sheet metal are given bleed of 10 mm per side, i.e. when using 2000 x 1000 mm graphics the dimension should be 2020 x 1020 mm. Prints that are to wrap around the edges of the material must have a correspondingly larger bleed depending on the thickness of the material.
Canvas (CANVAS) – if the material is to be stretched on a stretcher bar, the bleed must be 50 mm per side, so a 2000 x 1000 mm print with bleeds would be 2100 x 1100 mm.
Material for Roll’up display systems 50 mm bleed on the bottom edge of the project, other edges without bleed.
For paper or photo wallpaper we do not use bleeds.
The films are designed to be cut with a 3 mm bleed.
Plotter cut files should be provided in vector format, CDR up to version X5, Illustrator up to version CS6, at 1:1 scale (all lenses, tonal transitions and effects converted to bitmap, curved texts). On a separate layer or page, place the cutting path. If the service is for printing and cutting more of the same stickers, prepare only one sticker with bleeds and cutting line on the sheet and specify the quantity to be printed and cut. The below drawing shows the preparation of the graphic:

Plotter, thermal plotter, milling, laser

Projects for plotter cutting, milling or laser cutting should be properly prepared. Paths in a project should not intersect. The path should be simplified, without unnecessary checkpoints (nodes). Turn on the wirefarme preview of the drawing before sending the file for execution.
